SYNC 3
Software updates are available for all new Ford vehicles equipped with FordPass Connect. Cloud-connected technology allows background firmware updates and bug fixes for SYNC 3, as well as installing all-new features.
SYNC 4
Next-generation Ford cars with SYNC 4 and all-electric cars with SYNC 4A offer greater connectivity and more powerful upgrades. Using over-the-air technology , Ford Power-Up software updates optimize SYNC software and improve your car's performance, comfort and capabilities.
USING FORD POWER-UP WITH SYNC 4
Change your update preferences using your car's touchscreen. You can accept automatic updates, turn them off (they will still be downloaded but not installed until you approve them), or schedule regular updates for specific features.
AUTOMATIC UPDATES
SYNC 4 automatically downloads Ford Power-Up software updates and installs them when the car is turned off. The update is completed the next time you start the car. Once installation is complete, you will receive a notification on the FordPass app and on your car's touchscreen.
PLANNED UPDATES
Some Ford Power-Up software updates need to be planned in advance, as the car needs to be powered off to install them. SYNC 4 will notify you when these updates are available and ask you to choose an installation time. Once installation is complete, you will receive a notification on the FordPass app and on your car's touchscreen.
